What is the TVOC?

TVOC, the full name is Total Votatile Organic Compound. It is the one of the three most serious organic pollutant in air, the three including the PAHs, Aldehyde compounds and TVOC. VOC is the organic matter under the room temperature the saturation vapor over the 133.32pa, the boiling point between the 50℃ and 250℃. Under the normal temperature, it could be existing in the air in the evaporation form. Also with the toxicity, irritation, carcinogenic and special odor, this will affect the skin and mucous membranes, so have harm for the human healthy. TVOC could smell, with stimulate, even for some compounds with the gene toxicity.

What is the harm to human healthy?

At present, it is believed that the VOC will cause the human immune level disorder, also affect the central nervous system function, then will come out the following symptoms: dizziness, headache, drowsiness, weakness, chest tightness, etc; may also have the effect on the digestive system, will feel loss appetite, nausea, etc. If high concentration, will damage the liver and hematopoietic system.

Where the TVOC come from?

Indoor, the TVOC source could be classified as the following four types:

1. Building materials: including the man-made board, foam insulation materials, plastic sheet, etc.

2. Decoration materials: paints, coatings, adhesives, wallpaper, carpet, ect.

3. Articles for daily use: maybe the cosmetics, detergents, and others.

4. Office supplies: mainly refers the ink, photocopiers, typewriters, and other office equipments.

In addition, the domestic fuel and smoking, human waste , outdoor industrial waste gas, automobile exhaust, photochemical pollution, these also are the main factors could affect the indoor TVOC content.

So, monitoring the TVOC concentration is very important, once the level up to the certain value, we need to take some actions to control it.
