How to choose the suitable coating thickness gauge?
On the marketing with many different type of coating thickness gauge, so, how to choose the suitable paint thickness gauge? Here our engineer offer the following suggestions with five steps:
1. Firstly should confirm the about thickness of the coating.
2. Should assure the base material of the workpiece is metal.
3. Confirm the metal type of the workpiece base material:
1. Take one piece of magnet near the workpiece, if sucked, the base material is Magnetic metal, such as the Fe, Co, Ni.
2. If not sucked, then will be the Non-magnetic metal, such as the Copper, Aluminum.
4. Confirm the coating:
1. Non-metal coating: such as the paint, powder.
2. Non-magnetic metal coat, such as the Galvanized, Tin.
5. Choose the coating thickness gauge:
OC-770 can be used for non-destructive coating thickness measurement of non-magnetic coatings, e.g. paint, enamel, chrome on steel, and insulating coatings, e.g. paint and anodizing coatings on non-ferrous metals.
The internal probe can work on both principles, magnetic induction and the eddy currents. The probe can automatically detect the substrates type (Magnetic or not), and calculate the coating thickness and display it fast.
