What is the difference between a light meter and a luminance meter?

1 lightness

Brightness is the eye's perception of the brightness of a light source and object surface. It is a visual experience mainly determined by the intensity of light. Generally speaking, the stronger the light, the brighter it looks; the weaker the light, the darker it looks.

The extremes of brightness are white and black. The following three pictures respectively represent the effects after adjusting the brightness and brightness. It can be seen that too high brightness will also reduce the visibility of the picture. High brightness will not affect the recognition of picture details.

Through the following six pictures, you can vividly see the difference between lightness and brightness.

3 illumination

Light intensity refers to the luminous flux of visible light received per unit area. Abbreviated as illuminance, the unit is lux (Lux or lx). A quantity used to indicate the intensity of light and the extent to which the surface area of an object is illuminated. i.e. "how much light do I get in a certain place".

Illumination has nothing to do with the object being illuminated. Take our palm as an example. Whether it is the palm of the hand or the back of the hand, under the same conditions, the amount of light received is the same, that is, the illumination is the same. However, it looks different to our naked eyes. The palm of the hand always feels a little brighter than the back of the hand. This is the difference in brightness. Why does this happen?

Brightness is related to reflectivity. The reflectivity of the palm of the hand and the back of the hand is different, resulting in a difference in brightness.

What impact do illumination and brightness have on life? It can be said that all indoor space lighting needs to assess the horizontal illumination of the working surface, but attention should be paid to the adaptability of illumination and color temperature. For example, in our work, it is not enough to simply change the light color in the office, we must also pay attention to the illumination.

High illumination and low color temperature will make people feel stuffy, while low illumination and high color temperature will make people feel depressed and tired, leading to reduced work efficiency.

Our illuminance meter can measure the visible light emitted by light sources such as LED lamps, fluorescent lamps, metal halide lamps, high-pressure sodium lamps or incandescent lamps, and is widely used in homes, offices, warehouses, squares, automobiles, lighting, LED manufacturing, animal husbandry, planting, photography, etc. indoor venues.

Built-in high-precision photodiode sensor and color correction filter, with multiplication/minimum value, automatic shutdown, Lux/FC unit selection data retention, low voltage indication and zero return correction function.
